Rakennuslehti valitsi Koivusaaren metroaseman vuoden 2015 työmaaksi,
eikä syyttä. Maailman ainoa merenalainen metroasema on poikkeuksellisen
vaativa hanke, joka haastaa myös Telinekatajan osaamisen.
Rakennuslehti magazine named Koivusaari metro station
as its Site of the Year for 2015, and for good reason.
The world’s only undersea metro station constitutes an
exceptionally demanding undertaking that challenges even
Telinekataja’s expertise.
The Western Metro Line will bring eight new metro stations
to Helsinki and Espoo in August 2016. The Koivusaari station
is being constructed by SRV Rakennus Oy.
“The Koivusaari station is a challenging undertaking
with a tight timetable. We have as many as 37 subsidiary
contractors involved and we have set strict demands for each
of them,” explains

The jury at Rakennuslehti magazine praised the Koivusaari
metro station for, among other reasons, its risk management,
its time-saving and innovative technical solutions, and the
positive spirit of the youthful construction site organisation.
“We appreciate the honour. It is particularly great to get
recognition from within the field, since the jury is comprised
of experienced building professionals from a variety of
sectors.”

40 metres below sea level
The construction site for Koivusaari station is 265 metres
long. The 75-metre-long escalators were built at a 30 degree
angle inside the inclined shaft.
“Ahead of us remains the challenge to construct
scaffolding over the escalators. These are the longest
escalators that Kone Oy has ever supplied within Finland.”
The installation of the scaffolding and weather protection
system has been carried out right alongside all other aspects
of the project. The ability to manage with the logistics,
slanted installation surfaces and tight timetables among
contractors within such a confined space has called for
ongoing planning and accuracy.
“Telinekataja set the bar high, and they have managed to
remain at that level. Special praise should be directed to Ville
Valkonen, Supervisor at Telinekataja,” states Liikamaa.
