The largest Nordic Congress and Concert Centre will grow
in area by approximately 2,800 m
2
. “The construction will
take place between and partially on top of two existing
spaces,” explains AARO RYTKY, Production Manager at
Jatke Oy, the site’s primary contractor.
The expansion will house more congress, meeting and
banquet facilities. Following the renovations, Moominvalley
will also be moving from the Tampere Art Museum to Tampere
Hall. The entire undertaking will be completed in spring 2017.
“It’s challenging as a work site and tight in terms of the
timetable. The chief designer changed in the beginning of the
construction phase, and so the design work is being carried
out alongside the construction work. The most challenging
segment of the building, in terms of lifting and logistics, will
be done last,” says Rytky.
Load-bearing beams for weather
protection and existing structures
As the primary contractor, Jatke Oy selected Telinekataja
as its partner for the project because the company is local,
reliable and competitive in terms of its price quotations.
“When building the framework, the work order requires
special planning, such as the gradual modification of
weather protection. These problems are solved through the
collaboration of the designers, supervisors and Telinekataja,”
says Rytky.
Weather protection plays a significant role at Tampere
Hall, particularly in terms of the new portion of the building
being constructed on top of the existing facilities. That part
of the work site is protected by a 1,000 m
2

protection roof with a span of 38 metres and a 570 m
2

roof system.
“We realised that the roof of Tampere Hall could not
bear the weight of the weather protection systems. Now, the
entire weather protection roof rests on load-bearing beams.
That enables us to ensure the durability of both the weather
protection and the existing building structures,” states

Logistiikka sovitetaan
Tampere-talon tapahtumiin
Tampere-talossa järjestetään vuosittain noin 700 tapahtu-
maa, joissa vierailee yhteensä yli 250 000 kävijää. Työmaan
logistiikka ja työvaiheet on sopimuksen puitteissa soviteltava
niin, ettei tapahtumien aikana tehdä melua tuottavia töitä.
– Muutaman kerran työt on keskeytetty, koska vanhat
rakenteet kuljettavat ääntä pitkiäkin matkoja. Pääurakoitsija
sopii asioista Tampere-talon kanssa, ja me toimimme sovitun
mukaan, Leiniäinen kertoo.
– Myös ahdas piha edellyttää työnjohdolta ennakkosuun-
nittelua. Materiaalitoimitusten ja nostojen päällekkäisyyksiltä
ei aina pysty välttymään, mutta yhteistyö on sujunut mutkat-
tomasti, Rytky kiittää.
