Mallina muille
– Valitsimme Telinekatajan urakkaan, sillä luotamme heidän
osaamiseensa. Telinekataja tekee, mitä lupaa, sanoo Tuupa-
lan koulua urakoivan Rakennusliike Kuoma Oy:n työpäällikkö
HANNU TOIVANEN
.
– Sääsuojat ovat olleet kestäviä, ja niiden suunnittelus-
sa on huomioitu tarve liikutella suuriakin kappaleita sisälle
ja ulos. Esimerkiksi asennusvalmiit, lähialueen kuusipuusta
valmistetut CLT-elementit tehtaalta tuleva rekka peruuttaa
suoraan sääsuojatelttaan.
Tuupalan koulu valmistuu marraskuussa, ja koululaiset
pääsevät aloittamaan vuoden 2018 uudessa, oppimista tu-
kevassa ympäristössä. Kaikki hankkeen osapuolet ovat yhtä
mieltä rakennuttamisen tulevaisuuden tuulista. – Kuivaketju-
rakentaminen tulee yleistymään vahvasti.
The Tuupala School in Kuhmo will be the first wooden
school building in Finland made of cross-laminated timber
(CLT) elements. “The new type of construction challenges
both designers and developers as well as contractors.
Weather protection and dry-chain construction are vital
aspects in this project,” states MARKKU PÄÄKKÖNEN,
Project Manager at the Town of Kuhmo.
Telinekataja’s weather protection systems cover the
construction site and the future school buildings, with a total
area of 5,500 m
2
. The new construction method has attracted
plenty of curious watchers. As the first project of this type
for the Finnish Forest Foundation, it has gained interest both
among local residents and experts in the field.
“We have built, in stages, a total of 3,700 m
2
of weather
protection roofs. The system had to be robust enough to
resists stormy winds, and in this case, it was not possible
to anchor the elements to the structures,” describes
LAURI
UUTELA
, Area Manager at Telinekataja.
A small price for a healthy environment
The new buildings will replace the old school which suffered
from indoor air problems. To ensure a healthy environment
in the future, the project is implemented in compliance with
the Healthy House criteria and the principles of dry-chain
construction, which means that the construction materials
must not get wet during any phase of the process.
“Weather protection enables us to work in the rain as
well. The system will easily pay off: the cost for the weather
protection only accounted for 2% of the project’s total EUR
11.6 million budget”, Pääkkönen emphasises.
“Telinekataja was our choice since we have trust in their
competence,” says
HANNU TOIVANEN
from Rakennusliike
Kuoma Oy, the main contractor for the Tuupala School.
In 2018, schoolwork will start in the new building
providing an environment that supports learning. The project
parties share a view on the future trend in construction
and development. “There will be a rapid growth in dry-chain
construction methods.”
