“The flexibility of the scaffolding services is a priority for
the refinery, since the need for quality and safe scaffolding
solutions can sometimes spring up on very short notice,”

The maintenance shutdown will allow for the inspection of
the refinery’s heat exchangers, piping, towers, reactors and
furnaces. An exceptionally extensive investment programme
aimed at developing the processes and improving productivity
will also take place at the refinery.
“The total cost of the maintenance and repair work is
about 100 million euro,” says Nikki.
Telinekataja provides, as a managed service, the necessary scaffolding solutions for production
lines 1, 2 and 4 and the distribution terminal at Neste Oil’s refinery in Porvoo. Oil is being refined
24/7 all year round, and demanding scaffolding systems are required every day, sometimes
even round the clock. During spring 2015, thousands of scaffolding structures will be needed
to carry out the most extensive maintenance shutdown in the history of the refinery.
“This is, both in terms of finances and human resources,
the largest maintenance shutdown in the history of the
refinery. The work will need to be carried out around the
clock, on weekends as well, and will require the input of
approximately 1,000 of our own employees as well as
about 3,000 professionals employed by the contractors.
The scaffolding structures must be built quickly without
compromising safety so that the workers can get on with
their job without any delays.”

Tarve tuhansille telineille
Huoltoseisokkiin liittyvät valmistelut aloitetaan telinetöiden
osalta noin puoli vuotta ennen kaavailtua tuotannon alasajoa.
Telinekataja on varautunut hankkeeseen huolellisella suun-
nittelulla ja mittavilla resursseilla. Neste Oil ja Neste Jacobs
tarvitsevat jalostamolla laajan kirjon erilaisia telineitä.
– Telineiden asentaminen kymmenissä prosessiyksiköissä
edellyttää vahvaa ammattitaitoa. Työturvallisuus on olen-
nainen osa ammattitaitoa. Rakennamme telineet siten, että
huoltotyöt saadaan ripeästi käyntiin. Toteutamme jalosta-
molle tuhansia telineitä, ja kalustoa tarvitaan valtava määrä,
kertoo Järvi.
– Meillä on kokemusta vastaavista hankkeista, ja osaam-
me varautua projektin etenemiseen sekä kasvamiseen ajoit-
tain jopa 200 telineammattilaisen voimin työvoiman jakau-
tuessa Neste Oilin ja Neste Jacobsin tarpeisiin.
– Telineet on rakennettava nopeasti turvallisuudesta
tinkimättä, jotta urakoitsijoiden ei tarvitse odottaa, kertoo
Nikki.
– Jalostamon huoltotöiden jälkeen ollaan takaisin tuotan-
nossa kesäkuun puolivälissä. Polttoainetoimitukset jatkuvat
asiakkaillemme täysin normaalisti koko seisokin ajan.
